SCI-uc Service
The Scientific Computing Service [SCI-uc] at the University of Cantabria is a specialized unit that provides technical support and advanced computing services to the university's research groups. Our mission is to facilitate access to and efficient use of high-performance computing (HPC/HTC) infrastructures to accelerate scientific and technological advances.
Our mission is to facilitate access to and efficient use of High-Performance Pomputing (HPC/HTC) infrastructures, contributing to scientific and technological development.
This website is currently being updated. In the meantime, you can access technical documentation and user guides (resource access, Slurm, etc.) on our official platform.
What We Offer
- HPC/HTC Infrastructure: Housing and hosting of computing equipment at the 3Mares data center, including power supply, cooling, high-speed connectivity, and continuous monitoring.
- Deployment and Configuration: Design and implementation of computing environments tailored to scientific projects.
- Operations and Support: We work closely with research groups to provide tailored solutions; monitoring, maintenance, and system upgrades to ensure availability and performance.
- Specialized Consulting: We offer expert technical guidance to optimize resource usage and improve computational efficiency.
- Procurement Advisory: We also offer support in selecting appropriate hardware and software for each project.
Infrastructure
SCI-uc operates an advanced infrastructure that includes compute clusters, high-speed networks (Ethernet and InfiniBand), high-performance distributed storage, and virtual platforms based on open-source software.
The system is designed to simplify usage for researchers by abstracting hardware complexity and providing standard HPC/HTC tools and environments.
Service Access
Resources are available to researchers at the University of Cantabria, external users, and industry collaborations, subject to project application and technical validation.
